What is Moasi you may ask? Moasi is the Navajo word for cat!

News

One of our babies, Sassy, was diagnosed with Feline Diabetes in September 2002. Thanks to a great Vet, and finding the Feline Diabetes and Gorbzilla websites, we learned to home test and care for him.

Sassy was on insulin for about a year, when his numbers started to fall. He needed less and less insulin, so in November 2003, we managed to take him off insulin completely and control his sugar with a combination of low carbohydrate, high protein diet, Epogen for his anemia, and Thyrotabs for his hypo-thyroidism. He maintained blood glucose numbers averaging in the mid 80s.

After about a year and a half, Sassy's blood glucose numbers started to rise again. We put him back on the same PZI insulin, and fought regulation for almost 6 months with no success. We changed to a different insulin, Lantus, and he was regulated almost immediately! He is currently on .5 units twice a day, and doing wonderfully. See our Kitties Page page for more information.
